JUSTIN VOITIC, KAT MCDERMOTT, MAJ BEE & JAE LANAE of JK AFFAIRS
were impressed by what they saw last week - the Spring/Summer 2011 shows & the Eileen Ford film preview at CLUB FIVESIXTY
VERNARD GOUD of LUVNGRACE inspired us on 03/03/2011 with a cohesive evening of creative expression:
INTRO - HOST - SARAH ROWLAND
& ARTISTS - MONIKA BLICHAR & JIMMY CUMMINS
The quirky Sarah Rowland kicked off the show by introducing the event with some laughs for the audience
As the event began, either side of the stage was set with a blank canvas - excitement began to build as two artists ( Monika Blichar & Jimmy Cummins) joined the stage to begin working on their respective pieces for the night. Monika Blichar used bright vibrant spring shades & 80's pop art reference, which tied in well with the editorial image projection on all walls surrounding the venue. Jimmy Cummins quickly started developing a black & white abstract image with seductive hints of film noir & pin up girl glamour.
ELIZA LAU - GENTILLE ALLOUETTE SPRING/SUMMER 2011
The models captivated us in these artsy, boho chic designs by gastown boutique designer Eliza Lau - the collection translated effortlessly with floral prints, headbands made popular recently by Rihanna & the cowgirl meets combat style of pairing boots with tights, also combining bright florals prints with neutral tones. Models Tia Valentina Guzzo (past JK Affairs editorial model) & Jamie Hsiung outstanded us with their energy, grace, poise & presence. Fun accessories like a pair of suspenders and a headband finished each look.
LIVE PERFORMANCE - CRUEL YOUNG HEART
We were treated to a performance by the youthful & energetic Cruel Young Heart, who reminded us of a more lively version of The Killers. Lead singer James Blackmon took the performance to the next level by moving down the runway off the stage and interacting with the audience.
NANCY PERRAULT SPRING/SUMMER 2011
The highlight of the night for us was Nancy Perrault featuring her Spring/Summer 2011 swimwear line. This show was full of life! The models donned abstract neon painted makeup which accentuated Nancy`s designs nicely. We loved the black cut-out swimsuit with metal clasping on model Charr Charlene. Kolin Konkin, friend & future model for JK Affairs editorials was a stand-out star in a slick beetlejuice black&white striped men`s swimsuit. Unfortunately for us, due to technical difficulties, we did not get footage for this segment of the show - TAMMY MALTESE captured the fun & flirtatious mood of Nancy Perrault`s collection so perfectly in this amazing shot!

FILM PREMIERE - REDWORLD MEDIA - THE LIFE & TIMES OF EILEEN FORD
To inspire all fashionistas, the film premiere was an exclusive sneak mini preview of the soon to be released documentary “The Life and Times of Eileen Ford” by filmmaker Jeth Weinrich, and founder of Ford Models Eileen Ford.
INVITO COUTURE SPRING/SUMMER 2011
The models breezed through wearing crisp, chic Turkish designs imported by Invito Couture made of seemingly quality fabrics. Linens,Prints, everything looked very fitted and put together.
From beautiful & colourful silk printed gowns, to tailored womens suiting, - the line is extremely versatile, to represent the stylish modern woman for Spring/Summer 2011.
